yooo-weee,
i am pretty much a complete beginner at this, but feeling so relieved after spending hours figuring out how to setup a basic helloaway.as, i just couldnt understand what the flip was not cookin but eventually realized that whatever tutorial i was following, all the imported packages must have been from a different version, after i going through the api ref and finding the relevant and newly named sources and reconfigured code to as3 i actually got it workin, just so happyyyyyyyy, because i was seriously bamboozled there.

I would like to see some tutorials focusing on the mouse, and other interactivity. This stuff is useful and cool, but not very applicable if my noob skills can’t even find the mouse position is 3d space.

AWAY3D is intresting and cool.
Though the Tutorials and samples are not friendly and maybe old for latest release.
There are few samples in the documentation.
Expect better documentation.

Can you define “not friendly”? If you mean, no copypaste, then yes. The meaning of a tutorial is to explore one feature in depth and it is compared to sources less work for us! :) Do you know that a tutorial cost around a day of work?
The samples/sources are all updated each release and you can find all latest ones into the svn trunk.
As about code samples and snippets, we have on the doc engine, a system where users (you) are able to add sniipets, by choosing the class they cover, they will be after approval (we have lots of spam) automatically embedded into the doc pages covering that particular class. You can find this technical wonder under the Examples section on this site. Can I expect to see some from you in there soon?? :)

The first in a series of tutorials that show you how to use Away3D. The tutorial is quite detailed, and the source and an online demo are included.

Would it be possible to have the tutorials as downloadable zips or pdfs? I’m having trouble loading them.

Hi, I’m looking for a basic tutorial that shows how to get started with Away3D. The current tutorials assume you have away3d installed already.

Keep after it Away 3D team! All the whining and requests for hand holding just mean that your work is breaking into the main stream and is no longer in the early adopter stage!
Not that the whining is bad. I also had and have trouble getting through some of the tutorials. But given the cost (0) and accessibility I can’t complain.
Fabulous stuff!

Hi, Looks like it’s made as difficult as possible to install Away 3d.
Why not make a simple installer. Hope to find out how it works some day.

Hey David, how can it be more simple than that? Set away3d folder next to your fla. An installer would do the same… you still will have to tell flash where the sources are. Reffer to CS3 or CS4 doc.

It couldn’t get any simpler than a FlashDevelop that installed into a ready 3D demo project but that’s asking a bit much. It’s best to just bite the bullet as there’s really not much to set up.
Awesome tutorial resource here!
