I’d also be interested to hear if there’s any future plans for the AS3 branch.
The latest AIR/flash player now supports videoTexture on all platforms and Away3D would make it easy to create VR experiences with this texture implemented.

I’m also waiting for any form of updates, like multithreading, AGAL3 support but as mentioned above seems the only updates for over a year have been for openfl, I love this engine but will have to change if its not going anywhere maybe to the unreal engine which is now free. but its not the move really want to do .

I have developped games on Away3D 4.1.6 since it was born.
I have the same question. What is the future plan?To be or not to be?
Adobe Air/Flash has their focus not only on games but also on applications.
So Away3D should have an important role on the field of ActionScript.
I also pay attention on UE4.But it seems not stable on HTML5.
So again HTML5+WEBGL+asm.js vs ActionScript?
What is the choice?
