Hi everyone!

I’m trying to run a simple example of Away 4.1.0 on iOS. Is just a view with a cube mesh spinning and a light. It runs perfectly on the iOS simulator and even on the iPad, but when I tried to add one more mesh the application crash on the iPad while testing on the iOS simulator still works fine.

This is the error message that I get from the debbuger:

Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
at away3d.core.sort::RenderableMergeSort/mergeSortByMaterial()[/Users/allan/Desktop/proyectos/animation/fw/Away3D/v410/src/away3d/core/sort/RenderableMergeSort.as:132]

And this is my setting:

- Flash Builder 4.7
- Away3D 4.1.0
- Air 3.5
- Lastest iPad with iOS 6.0.1

Am I missing something or is this a real bug?

Thanks

I’ve experienced this exact same issue as well and I’ve been trying to see if it was a problem with my code. I’m still investigating but still no luck on getting to the root of it.

However, if I export a release build, the issue seems to disappear.

Having the same issue with the same setup as OP but testing in iPhone.

The simulator doesn’t have any problems. I get it when debugging or running in «standard» in the device, but not when using a «fast» run/debug. In the release build I get a view and stats but 0 poly.

Seems to be related with :

Yeah this error has been around for awhile.  It is something in the SDK.  I did the try catch work around months ago hoping it would get fixed.  There are a ton of problems with the SDK besides this.  But with the latest release of the 3.6 SDK the problem still exists.  http://www.adobe.com/devnet/air/air-sdk-download.html

It might take a few ppl to post on adobe bug base for this to get addressed. https://bugbase.adobe.com/

At least I know the problem isn’t on my end. But its rather frustrating to have to create a release build each time to test on a device.
