hahaha, actually if you take a look at the prefs, its optional now. Added it just for you!
Regarding awd2, yes, its exporting the latest (locked 2.0) format.
It will be fully supported very soon. In meanwhile you might want to try the AS3 outputs.

Hi Fabrice,
and thank you so much for your hard work.

But.. where is the download link to Prefab 2.0?
Actually the badge installer at http://www.closier.nl/prefab/
points to the old 1.5.4 version…

I’ve missed something? smile

Hi,

2 questions :

1 - About the export awd2 message “EXPORTS ONLY GEOMETRY! Animation & texture support for the latest awd 2.0 format is under development”
Do you have an idea when the normal support be released ?

2 - Have you planned a workflow tutorial on your great mini-tutorials page on your site ? From 3dsmax export to a Flash Builder import (via Prefab2 of course?)

Thanks and again : “great works !!” for your work smile

1 Yes, very soon. As a team, we do focus on our gold release 4.0 atm.
Even if I do work bits on Prefab in between, all attention goes to mothership!

2 During almost entire lifespan of v1, I’ve got requests for this. Did a few video’s tho. For v2, I want of course do it way better. Especially because Prefab holds specific features, such as the “guys” for instance whom are not perse obvious in what they do and what they could mean for you. Problem with this particular case is that its in early stage and it evolves (added another one yesterday). Possibly making the manual partially obsolete if I would do it now. So each time I’ll add a page to the “manual”, it will be over an item that has reached a certain maturity and is here to stay.

I do realize that my app is inserted in many project workflows and do require a descent manual, doc and (video) tutorials…
Its just that my secretary is in vacation smile

Really glad to hear it is helpful to your flow.
Today got first material support for awd2 working…

“Where we can donate?”
If you want to donate there is a “pay us a beer” btn in Prefab’s menu.
You can also do it here on the Away site. It’s the same “piggy”.
Hope your game will be a success! By advance thank you.

Oh and don’t forget to send it to us at away3d.com/showcase/suggest/ once its released.

How it’s working ? Material params and texture bitmap embeded in awd2 file ?

If save dependencies and embed is true. Maps are embedded into the awd2 file. If embed is false, the relative url of the external resource is used instead. If save dependency is false. It exports only the geometry.

What is file format of embedded bitmaps? They save same quality and size when I chose picture in materlial box ? Oh this will be much easy fill scene by static objects!

So I simply import OBJ fixing scale and size, then create material making right props, apply textures and just press export awd2. Omfg, It so easy now.
I used before own xml format for each props, texture paths, big weights classes for handling it and combine in ready mesh..

I think after that interest to Away3d4 will be growing up.

P.S. But still confused by my problem with methods.. Just dunno why they wont work with my game. /forum/viewthread/2558/

“Omfg, It so easy now.”
Yes it is. wink

Tho the only format atm that is supporting all regarding away3d materials in Prefab is AS3. It is also the lightest and fastest as you do not require any loaders. To be added later on: lights support, now you have to set them yourself.

Awd file format v2.0 supports only diffuse maps atm. 2.1 should support normal & spec maps.

Shadow: we are aware of this issue.
