Please file a bug report instead. Use the issue tracker at http://awd.googlecode.com For c.rash issues (like the one you’re seeing) please attach the minidump file found in <your home folder>/AppData/Local/Temp/3dsmax_minidump.dump. You will need to show hidden files in the explorer to be able to see the AppData folder.

Cheers

New 3dsmax exporter with a Away4Lib update with a ActionScript Mobile Project on flash builder work fine !

I’d like to write a partial AWD2 exporter for Lightwave. Is there any documentation available for the AWD2 format I could consult?

@carl : maybe here http://code.google.com/p/awd/source/browse/doc/spec/

@richard : Do you have a road map for the next features of the exporter ?
Specially for the normal map capability in Embed Textures ?

Thanks Skyrick. I’ve downloaded that now. So while the format is now locked down the spec can still continue to evolve in a forwards/backwards compatible way. In other words if I write to that spec correctly my exports should still continue to work in relation to new AWD2 parsers.

cheers
Carl

Does this AWD2 spec represent the announced locked down version of the format? This spec is labelled WIP in big red letters.

AWD spec

http://code.google.com/p/awd/source/browse/doc/spec/AWD_format_specification.odt

In case anyone else is interested, I found that browsing the repository yielded the following message on the spec page:

This file is not plain text (only UTF-8 and Latin-1 text encodings are currently supported).

However, in the bottom right corner of the page I found the following, which provides a link to the spec file. Use “Save Link As” or similar. You’ll need Open Office or other odt viewer to read the file.

File info
Size: 110044 bytes
View raw file

Infos :

if you manage to make the export once, and then it crash the next time :

- shut down max
- remove the dle from the plugin directory
- restart max
- shut down again
- put the DLE back in the plug directory
- restart max.

It work for me with the first version of the plugin, the last one dont crash here.

@richard : do you have an idea about the “normal map” embed export capability ?

Any news on the Maya exporter side?
We’re looking forward to make use of it. :D

I was just trying out the Maya Exporter on my Mac Book Pro using a Maya2012 free trial.

The exporter seemed to install fine, I added the plugin successfully as outlined in the readme.

However, every time I export I get the following error message:

Using pure python for writing. Build PyAWD with—use-libawd=true
to build using libawd for optimized writing performance.
// Error: line 0: AttributeError: file /Users/Shared/Autodesk/maya/plug-ins/pyawd/pyio.py line 13: ‘AWD’ object has no attribute ‘mesh_data_blocks’ //
// Result: /work/AnimationTest04.awd //

The resulting file contains nothing.
Any ideas what that could be?

Same issue as Tom.de, using the latest Maya exporter 1.0.0 (OS X) with Maya 2013 i get the following error:

// Error: line 0: AttributeError: file /Users/Shared/Autodesk/maya/plug-ins/pyawd/pyio.py line 13: ‘AWD’ object has no attribute ‘mesh_data_blocks’ //

Awd file is empty.

Please advise.

Thanks.

**BUMP**

I noticed most of these posts are from May. Has the Maya 2012 AWD2 Exporter been cancelled?
