How to Achieve Dynamic Transparency Effect Using Away4.0 API?

Hi, Dose anyone konw how to achieve such effect using the current broomstick API ?

i’m afraid , you misunderstand what i said , i mean , dynamic transparency, not a liner transparency, some concept like “Photoshop Mask” or “After Effects Track Matte"on the 3d surface.


It use a texture’s gray map information to define a 3d surface material’s transparency information , 0 means totally transparent, 255 means totally non-transparent

I see, so you want an alphaMap that you can draw on at run time? “Dynamic” transparency doesn’t really have a clear meaning and I wouldn’t use that to describe the effect you want.

I think alphaMaps will eventually be implemented seeing that there are specular and normal maps, but I can’t speak for the away3d team. Theres an incomplete broomstick example in the trunk called AlphaMapTest.as
