how to install awd maya plugin on win xp

i have maya2011 and windows xp
i build awd source successfully, but dont’t how to install after reading SDKBuildInstructions 
i’m new to maya, and thank you for your help

In your Maya folder (e.g. C:/Program Files (x86)/Autodesk/Maya2011), the files/folders should be distributed as such:

From exporters\maya
- MayaAWDExporter.py goes into bin/plug-ins
- MayaAWDExporterUI.mel goes into scripts

The pyawd folder from sdks/python-pyawd/build
in it’s entirety goes into Python/lib/site-packages

After it’s been installed, restart Maya and open the plug-in manager to load the MayaAWDExporter.py plug-in.
After that, you should be able to export AWD files through the regular File > Export All… mechanism.

Hmm a very newbie question : WHyyy not offer a download version already compiled ? for Blender & Maya gulp

Even if Python version changed between this softs version, why not offer many versions by softs ? (like we can see it for Cycles Render for Blender for example).

Examples :

- AWD Exporter 2.1a (away4 ready) > Blender 2.62 > windows 7 x64
- AWD Exporter 2.1a (away4 ready) > Blender 2.62 > windows 7 x86

- AWD Exporter 2.1a (away4 ready) > Maya 2011 x64 > windows 7 x64
- AWD Exporter 2.1a (away4 ready) > Maya 2011 x86 > windows 7 x86

etc.

It’ll make the exporter more “user friendly” to installed
Pleaaaase make release version smile Even three / year : it’s nice
And ok, if someone want the very last version, ok he’s compile a new one for him. No ? smile

Could not agree more.

Had to use 32Maya2011 on 64Win7.
Just couldnt compile the 64bit with vs2008.

Whats happening with the awd exporter?
no updates since Oct

all that seems to work in maya2012 mac osx but when compiling in flash i get the following..

Exception fault: Error: Error #2030: End of file was encountered.
at flash.utils::ByteArray/readUTFBytes()

any ideas?

Bump for having precompiled AWD exporters for Blender.

It would make things easier for many.

Having a compiled version would indeed be very handy.
I am currently trying to build the awd source.

libawd builds fine but pyawd fails with about 63 errors every time.
It can’t find AWDMeshData for example and more. Is the current version broken?

I want to use it with Maya2011 on Win7.

Does anyone have the latest version in compiled form?
