Here is a speed test using Away3D 4.

Consists of:

101 Plane assembled cubes
Each plane has a BitmapMaterial on it
Each plane has 2 directional lights and 2 point lights applied to its material

RIG:
Win 7 x64 - 2.8GHz - Nvidia GTX 570 - FP 11.0.1.98 Beta 2

Ram: 25.7m
FR: 50/62

Interesting thing is that when I preview this in FlashBuilder the framerate doesn’t get above 15fps.

Anyway here it is:

What’s your results?

Hi Darcey. Nice test. I get:

30 fps
23.7 MB

Win Vista - 2.5 GHz Athlon - ATI Radeon 5570

interestingly I hadn’t yet updated to FP 11 b 2 and only got ~20 fps before I updated. It seems like Flash 3D works better on Nvidia stuff than ATI Radeon from what I have seen in the past several months

[phenomII 955x4,GT220,Win7x64,8GBx1600Mhz]

I just want to add, that have Asus motherboard with some Power Saving soft.
Normally I get what I shown above (58-62fps).
Then setting ‘Max Power Saving Mode’ drops speed of the cores to about 800MHz for each processor resulting with poor performance of this 3d example (~20-32fps). So I assume that slower machines have problems with the performance, and this doesn’t necessarily is connected to GPU speed, but Iam not 100% sure that this soft doesn’t drop GPU performance either (but I quess it doesn’t as my GT220 is not supported by this software - small icon is dimmed in the app’s panel).
