I have been doing some testing on moving assets from Unity to tools like Away3D.
The idea is to use the COLLADA exporter (http://u3d.as/content/fl4re/collada-dae-exporter-for-unity/3cC) and the Away3D importer.
All your meshes, animations, textures, etc. get transported correctly from Unity with our COLLADA exporter back into Away3D.
