I have observed that when exporting to AWD2 from prefab, all meshes names are modified. Prefab adds a “1” at the end of their names.

If I set the name of a mesh to “aaa”, export as awd2, then import the awd back into prefab, the name of the mesh will be aaa1.

Is this the intended behaviour?

Prefab adds a suffix in cases of doubles. If you name a mesh aaa. it stays aaa. if you have 2 “aaa” the second one becomes “aaa0” 1,2,3 etc..

I suppose that by doubles you refer to meshes with the same name. But I don’t have doubles.

Here is what I am doing:
1. Create in Blender a cube with name aaa.
2. Export as obj.
3. Check in the generated obj that the cube object is named aaa.
4. Import the obj in Prefab. The cube name is aaa indeed.
5. Export as awd.
6. Close prefab.
7. open prefab again, import the previous awd. The name is now aaa1.

After step 6, if I load the awd with away3d, the name is aok : aaa
So I guess something is hapening at step 7.

Ok, I was able to reproduce. I’ll investigate where the name update takes place. Thanks for the report.
