Hey,
I’ve been using Away3D for about two months, slowly making my way across the sea of knowledge here and when someone asked me how Away3D was actually displaying content, I didn’t know exactly lol.
I use the code view.render(); and I just let it do whatever it is it does, but I don’t know what exactly that is. It’s bothering me a bit. How does it compare to the flash display list.
Thanks

Away3D 4.x does not use the display list at all to render. It uses the Stage3D Flash APIs, which are based on OpenGL ES2 and in turn use OpenGL or DirectX on the host system to do the rendering. If you are curious about how these types of systems work, it should be fairly easy to find plenty of information online about Stage3D, OpenGL (ES2) and DirectX alike.

What exactly is it that is slow? Have you done any profiling? Have you tried to toggle any features or effects to figure out where the bottle neck is?
If it’s rendering on GPU (which “DirectX 11” in AwayStats suggests) there is no reason for why it should be slow, as long as the environment (including operating system and hardware) is fast enough.
