I was also happy to read Mike Chambers addressing the loss of trust from the developer community. Flash is in serious trouble even though they should be mopping the floor right now with Stage 3D. Also, 11.2 will support Stage3D on mobile! And they have multithreading in there down the road, but not soon. How would multithreading affect Away3D? |

Posted: 28 February 2012 03:19 AM Total Posts: 19 [ # 2 ] Can’t speak to how multithreading would affect Away3D itself, but it would be huge for my application which has to do a ton of other processing just to build the model. I’m parsing and then interpreting CNC g-code files (CAD/CAM stuff) before creating a 3D model that shows what the machine tool will do. My competitors all have C++ apps and they run about 6x faster. I figure the combination of Away3D 4 GPU support and multi-threads ought to about even that out. Cheers, BW |
