You can use your mouse to paint on the 3d mesh with complex animation(Just like Maya) , it renders so fast so smooth…It’s almost impossible to use the current 3d frameworks base on the Stage3D to achieve such things…
What on earth are adobe guys doing there wasting more than 1 year time .....just show us that tiny crippled 3d player ?

The site is impressive, no shadow of a doubt.
As for who “Wins”, the answer is clearly everybody.
With several billion people deciding, no single technology will dominate completely.
Think of cars, who has “Won” the race to be the worlds prefered car? Ford, Toyota, Mercedes?
Sometimes, and this case included, it’s not the motor but the driver who wins.
Talented artists will impress, virtually regardless of which platform they adopt.
Smart developers know the right platform depends on the situation.
If you’re employed by Google to make a kick ass demo for Chrome, then it’s no wonder you choose WebGL.
If you’re an experienced AS3 developer, and you seek ubiquity above all else, then Flash is just as natural a choice.
While F11 hasn’t even been released yet, Google released their first serious 3D offering back in May 2009.
Give Adobe some time. While I’m as frustrated as anyone about the long development cycle, if in the end I can offer a “develope once, deploy anywhere” scenario to my customers that will vastly outway any apparent technical advantage or feature there may be on a single platform.
I hesitate to mention that “Rome” crashed my computer and wouldn’t load again until I’d cleared my cache, because I’m not trying to suggest flash is necessarily superior in that regard. However, I am painfully aware of the downside of “standards” that perform and function differently across platforms, having lived through VRML 2.0 and X3D to name but a few. With standards the emphasis is on the browser/device vendor to implement the specs, rather than the creator of the technology to invest time and money in making sure things stay as consistent as feasibly possible across OS’s, browsers and devices.
This is Adobe’s ace-in-the-hole, IMHO.

It looks colorful and dynamic but it freezes every few seconds :(
On the first try had to kill my Chrome, too… since it just crashed.

Yes, Peter.
Design and develop once , deploy on every platform, every computer , every device…This is really a dreaming and luxury promise adobe gives us!
From my experience, actionscript is really a nice language for interactive designing and programming, better than java for android(I’m also a android developer), better than objective c for apple platform..better than javascript…adobe do have the best integrated products line for content designing and delivering…and i do love and enjoy the nice tools adobe gives us !
But, now, what i m concern is performance tuning, this is really a challenging and time demanding work ! it’s also a headache work! it’s not something about creative designing , it’s something about the challenge between native and non-native rumtimes, currently i can’t imagine who can use Stage3D to develop something like “Skies of Glory or “Need for Speed Shift” and runs as smooth as the native app on android ...but if Flash Player11 and Stage3D can’t , it will always be a tiny toy and not practical solutions for us , not mention cross platform… who cares ?
Anyway… I will keep a very close eye one Stage3D…and Stage3D on android ,and have all my powerful latest smartphones and tablets ready for Flash Player 11 for Android Beta!
Adobe ! HURRY UP PLEASE!

I am afraid the Stage3D will never give flash developers as much access to all the GPU goodies as WebGL/OpenGL and that is mostly for security reasons.Adobe’s security priority is the highest concerning the Flash technology. That is pretty understandable because the IT/ RIA is their primary target for Flash environment.Flash 3D community is not the audience Adobe ever counted on much. Finally I believe those who would like to get most from GPU in Web environment will go with WebGL.The live example is mr Doob .

Well i guess the biggest sticking point with WebGL at the moment is that lack of browser support.
Whilst the tech demo’s for WebGL are impressive, asking people to use Chrome or a late version of Firefox certainly are limiatations, and much bigger then updating a flash plugin.
until IE jumps onboard, it won’t take off.
Given how long its already been ‘released’ theres not exactly a lot of examples/use of it.

VantagePoint, you are asking “where is the Flash Stage3D stunning show reel ?” As fp 11 not is released and the 3d frameworks not are ready yet, I donĀ“t think that anyone would release a big show reel right now. But I am quite certain that ther are work in progress that would qualify.
It is an interesting question though, as I also share some of your anxiety, seeing that the most creative producers of such material is jumping to the most hyped technologies, without big concerns of things like stability, scalability and cross platform requirements.
What would “a stunning show reel” for Away3D look like and include? It would be fun to create a list for a show reel like that. I think it should show how Away3D differs from Alternativa, WebGL, and Unity3D.

Yes, I’m preparing some material for Away3d4.0 show reel, and will show out in the next few weeks,I got a lot of inspiration from GDC(Game Developer Conference) show reel from 2007-2011, and Siggraph show reel from 2008-2011,really exciting show reel! I hope Away3d can show something like that…
