It would be very helpful is we could subtract union intersect using CSG or constructive solid geometry.
Thanks,

I have some work done in this direction… Tho, in meanwhile, Tim Knip ported a javascript CSG and kindly pushed it on github. https://github.com/timknip/csg.as

As is, it would require quite a lot of marschalling, but it should work.

And to further on Fabrice’s statement, this is actually something that we are looking into for Away3D 4.1, although it’s not our highest priority so it’s not yet clear whether it will make it or not. If someone wants to contribute time (or donate money) to improve the likelihood of this making it into 4.1 we would obviously be very grateful! smile

I managed to get CSG completely working. I’ve got it working dynamically where the user puts something 2d on the screen and it get’s represented 3d with CSG.

Sounds cool. If you can produce a demo and perhaps a pull request or patch we could consider merging it into the engine?

Here is a screen shot.

I can put up a demo later.
I am creating this for mycasebuilder.com.

I’ll need a CSG solution for my project (CAD/CAM simulations).  It needs to be pretty robust—lots of polygons in the simulations.

Not sure what your timing looks like.  I need to finish my current project before I could free up cycles to help.  That’ll likely be end of year.

For those that haven’t seen it, our product is here:

http://www.cnccookbook.com/CCGWizardE.html

It’s currently doing wireframe simulations with SegmentSet and the next release will target full 3D using CSG.

Cheers,

BW
