Hi there,
I am quite newbie to 3D and I am facing a problem with zooming out in skybox. Namely if I zoom out empty rectangular areas appear on the edges of stage while rotating camera. Could you explain me what actually happens? Is there anything I can do to overcome this problem? Does the resolution of pictures/stage affect this problem? Any help appreciated…

This is likely due to clipping. What you can try is setting the _view.camera.lens.far further away, to 10000 or something (mind you that clipping does have a purpose: avoid rendering objects that are far away and thus speeds up the program, but for small projects you can get away with it).

Hey, thank you a lot. I assume that you have PerspectiveLens in mind? Or maybe ZoomFocusLens? Sorry for this question but there is no description in the docs… And why there is no public api for doing this? Am I really supposed to overwrite this class in order to influence protected props?

I’m not sure what you mean.
You can choose any lens you like, all lenses inherit from LensBase. And LensBase has a property near and far which you can access through the view.camera.lens and change.

Ok, so you are talking about the Broomstick, while the topic I submitted is about Away 3.6 where lenses inherit from AbstractLens where there is no far public property. Maybe I should highlight it also in the title… sorry… : )

Oh you are right. I’m tangled up in Away3D4 so I just assumed you were too. Sorry about that raspberry

I just found this method, this solve the problem.

view.clipping=new NearfieldClipping();

or

view.clipping=new FrustumClipping();
