Using 2 textures for different parts of the same mesh

Hello there. I want to make a sphere use 2 separate textures for each half of its surface, hoping that this way I can improve its overall resolution. How do I go about doing that? I am using v4.1. I searched online and looked around in the livedocs but I couldn’t find something useful.
