Plane zIndex

If I place a plane in front of other objects it flickers when moving the camera away from it ... it lets the other geometry (behind it) show through.
I’m placing the planes very close to the other object ... max 10px away.
It’s like away3d can’t make up it’s mind what object is closer to the camera… the plane or my other object.
If I place the plane further from the other object it seems to solve the problem…but I need it to be close to it ... masking a part of it.

I’m kind of new to away3d ... am I doing something wrong ?
Do I have to set some material, geometry proprieties to prevent this?
Is there another primitive I can use instead? I’ve tried using CubeGeometry but I get the same results for small thicknesses.
