Super basic question about 4.1 architecture

Software: Away3D 4.x

Hi all, I’m somewhat familiar with older versions of Away3D and I’m now trying to get familiar with the newer (Stage3D) architecture.

In my other programming experience things classified as ‘nodes’ seem to have a very different meaning than how they are used in 4.1.

Can someone please explain the basic unifying concept behind the various ‘node’ classes (ClipNodes, CameraNode, TransitionNode, etc.) and how they are meant to be used?

I’m definitely not a programming noob, so I can handle a pretty deep explanation, but I’m just having a hard time getting the ‘big idea’ here.

Thanks all!

Okay, that link makes sense.

I guess the thing that was/is throwing me for a loop is why things like AnimationClipNode are nodes for the scene graph? Aren’t these things really behavioral controllers and not visuals? Or can you add invisible behavioral nodes?
