What are my Specular(map/method) options?

I don’t use lights in my scene because I’m looking for max performance. All shadows are shadowmaps.

I would like to do the same for the specular channel of my Textures. I’ve tried making all kinds of specularMaps, but nothing really show up in my scene.

Does a specularMap need lights to work?

Any tips on making a realistic(enough) water map? Looking for some glistening…
