..ok , so now we have a gold edition of Away3D.
Well. If is so, which is the “gold” solution of this edition for
animated 3d models ?

I mean, everyone knows how awful is working with md5 models, to use some 2008 released obscured maxscripts, everyone know as well the permanent bugs and errors in trying the beta.beta.awd formats, everyone know the torture to find buggy exporters, scripts, plugs or any kind of cracked formats to see a biped walking in browser….

Well..does the gold edition comes with a complet stabile solution of animated 3d models format, or we have to wait for the diamond one…

The same is possible in Maya, but the exporter for Maya has only been released for Mac OS X so far. The Windows version should be online Sunday or early next week.

Work today…all day with it.
Still remain on “old” md5 max 2009-2010 exporter.
Still the most accurate

What are the problems you are having with the AWD exporter then?

The biped.
I have an animated skinned biped , or a biped with skin modifier and a timeline animation.
I cannot get the animation.
I don’t know.
I can export the mesh…but not the animation. I writed the txt filed, i change it….nothing.
I have exported in fbx and try export again…nothing.

The current version of the AWD2 exporter does not understand biped/Character Studio animations directly. You have to somehow convert it into a regular Max bones representation.

Thanks!
It is good to read this.
I will find a solution myself.

I recommend looking at the SEA3D project. Has many features for exporting from MAX to Away, and seems to work in all versions.

Have you tried using Prefab? Collada in, AWD2 out.

We’ve tried the Maya exporter on a Mac running Maya2012 (free trial version) but unfortunately it always produced the error below.
We even tried exporting a simple animated cube only, to no avail.

Using pure python for writing. Build PyAWD with—use-libawd=true
to build using libawd for optimized writing performance.
// Error: line 0: AttributeError: file /Users/Shared/Autodesk/maya/plug-ins/pyawd/pyio.py line 13: ‘AWD’ object has no attribute ‘mesh_data_blocks’ //
// Result: /work/AnimationTest04.awd //
