3D / 2D Pixel Matching

Is there a way to achieve exact 1:1 pixel matching between 2D and 3D objects in Away3D (e.g. switch seamlessly between a 3D plane and a 2D display object). It can be done easily in Papervision, but, for obvious reasons, I would much prefer to only ever use Away3D. The surprising frequency that I actually use this 3D-2D switching mechanic means I keep going back to Papervision.

The only solution I’ve found before is to place the camera 900px away from the object but this only gives approximate 3D~2D matching and is not always good enough. I’m not sure if this is something that has been gone over before (as I said, i’ve seen a few posts about it elsewhere), if so could someone point me in the right direction for a solution, if there is one?

Many thanks….

did you get an answer to this? What is your solution in PV3D so I can look into it. Will share my results.
