MeshHelper.applyScales is killing my animations.

I’m trying to scale an object while maintaining the animation I’ve applied to the object.  but it seems the animation is fixed on the infomation in the md5anim file. 

I’m using the SmoothSkeletonAnimator and the mesh is an md5mesh.  is there anyway to get this to work without remodeling?
