VideoTexture non 1:1 aspect ratio = SLOW

I have noticed that the VideoTexture favors 1:1 sized media and that other aspect ratios, such as 2:1 (1500x750, etc), render extremely slow. Is there a way to modify the VideoTexture where it would natively render these video files faster?
