Hi guys,

For a much to long time now i try to get away 3d 4.0 working in my Flash CS 5!!

Unfortunately there are a few tutorials for getting started in away3d, but until now i didn’t find only one tutorial, where it was explained precisely, how to configure Adobe Flash CS5 for Stage3D and away3d (only flashbuilder etc).

I should have all required files.
Of course flashplayer 11 is installed, i already have replaced the playerglobal.swc in my directory of Flash CS5 with the newest one from adobe and copied the 2 directories “away3d” and “com” into the directory where i save my .fla files.
So i thought Flash should find these sources automatically, but if i start a really simple program just with creating an view and render it, like explained in your tutorial by Richard Olsson on adobe (can’t post the link, because forum says my post would content spam?...), it doesn’t work!!

It would be really nice, if someone could tell the steps to get Stage 3D and away3d 4.0 working in Flash CS 5.

Thanks and best wishes,

Chris

Hey maddog,

thank you very much for the link. That was very helpful.

Now I just configured Flash for Flashplayer 11 and Away3D 4. But while trying the tutorial by Richard Olsson on adobe I unfortunately got another error.

I’ve copied the whole code from the tutorial, but instead of displaying the vase, I get the following error:

“1020: Method marked override must override another method”
in source: MD5AnimParser.as, line 105, protected override function proceedParsing() : Boolean

Does anyone know how to fix this issue? I think the configuration and linking to the Away3D 4 src files should be ok, because, if i just try to render the blank screen (without importing the vase), it works and this shouldn’t work if the configuration was wrong, should it?!

My guess is that the tutorial is to old. Away3d 4 is in alpha and has changed allot over the last few months. Until it is in beta there will probably not be to many new tutorials. The examples at github work though. I don’t have much experience importing md5 files either though.  What is the address to they tutorial. I could take a look at it and see if that is the issue or not.

Hey maddog,

thanks again for your reply. grin

The link to the tutorials is:
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashplayer/articles/creating-games-away3d.html

Ok, I will take a look at the examples at github. Furthermore yesterday I found another tutorial, with importing an 3ds model in Away3D 4:
http://cperea.com/programming/3d/away3d/loading-a-model-in-away3d-4-0/

I will take a look at this tutorial, maybe it’s interesting for you too.

Thanks again for your help.

best regards,

chris
