Hi,

I am not new to Flash but new to 3D in Flash.  I tried using Promescium but was redirected to use Away 3D instead since they are no longer really supporting the former.  In any case I have a 3D animation engine and it can export to a number of 3D files including FBX and OBJ (and DXF).  What is the best way to learn how to import 3D objects that I have modeled into Flash and can I then apply Flash filters to those objects (color, alpha, drop-shadow, etc)?  Can I animate them in 3D space within a 3D canvas in Flash?  Can I light the objects?  Where are the correct tutorials on 3D objects specifically not the 3D primitives tutorials though?  Where do I start?

Any help is greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

Start by running the Away3D examples that are available for download. This is actually an important step because it will show you if your FP11 development setup is correct. Since those examples are also not very user friendly making them work will be a big pain but you’ll learn a great deal in the process.

Yes I can see that even with the help of the Tartiflop blog post I cannot seem to get my Flex project set up.  I’m not sure if this is because they were working in Flex/eclipse and I am working in Flash Builder 4.5 .

It looks like I may have to invest in some books that are listed on this website to get started correctly.  I’m hoping those books link with the tutorials so that they show you exactly how to load the tutorials by creating a new Flash Builder Project.  I’m not sure exactly where to import what or where to create a New… what?

This is definitely a much more high level learning curve than simply learning ActionScript or Flash Pro.  There are so many Properties to set up in the Project view…

Thank you for taking the time to reply to my post.

I just ordered the books so I have to wait until I get them and then hopefully I will get going with the projects and tutorials.
