Geometry.clone() ommits welds / index data?

I have a mesh, applied 2 smoothing groups in max (which is the same as Welding I think).

I import it in Away3D, it looks great.

I clone() the geometry to use in a new Mesh(), the whole thing gets a single Smoothing group applied to it and looks bad.

Any thought? Can I weld or smooth some of the vertices myself maybe?

How did you import your model from Max? I mean what format did you use?

I think I might have been wrong from the start.

I initially imported the file as .3DS, but after some tests it appears there are no smoothing groups here at all. It doens’t import it.

Now I’m using .OBJ and it works great.

So if you work with Max and needs Smoothinggroups, use OBJ.

Now you can use updated 3ds parser which takes into account smoothing groups.
