Hi All.
You can find two blender monkeys in attached image.
I wonder how to make smooth shading in Away3D 4.x like a right side it?
Maybe I could use PhongMaterial in Away3D 3.x. But I can find it anymore.

Thank you for your any comment!!!

Use the Weld class.
Weld.apply(monkeyHead);

If you weld your vertices in Blender, or whatever 3d program you use, the file size will be smaller. Just a tip :O)

Also, take a look at “smoothing groups” (3D Studio MAX) or the equivalent. This lets you weld some vertices, while preventing corners from being smoothed.

Cheers!

We are using Blender 2.62 + Away3d.  Using the smoothing plugin in Blender doesn’t seem to produce a smooth shaded Away3d experience.  (Alternativa seems to have this built in).  We are using Bitmap materials and a series of meshes that need to retain their own identity.  We are applying mesh materials separately on a per-mesh basis.  So we can’t use weld on the container.  Weld also seems to be a very expensive operation.

So is there any way to use the method properties on each mesh to change shading so that hard edges are rounded off (so a low-poly model looks good)?
