Hi all,

Has anybody any idea where I can find the Broomstick documentation that used to be at livedocs/away3d-core-fp11 ? (Sorry for the incomplete url but inserting urls within the away3d domain is considered spam.)
This url now points to the release page of 4.0 beta…

Best,

Reinier

You should update to 4.0 beta, Broomstick was deprecated many months ago and was never really documented, apart from the examples.

Thanks for your fast answer.
Indeed will I update to the new beta, but my project is now in a critical phase and switching is not really an option. (I did a quick and dirty update, commenting out lines containing deprecated classes, and it seemed the beta was giving slightly poorer performance. This was only in debug builds though. )
The url I mentioned used to contain a good reference for broomstick as far as I am concerned, but it’s no longer accessible.
(Also, there is no documentation in the repository that I checked out.)

Sorry for the incovenience guys - we will put the alpha docs back up first thing tomorrow. Looks like they got a little misplaced in the shuffle

we have a new naming convention for doc urls which takes the following:

http://www.away3d.com/livedocs and http://www.away3d.com/livedocs/away3d will redirect to the latest released away3d docs which are currently at http://www.away3d.com/livedocs/away3d/4.0

http://www.away3d.com/livedocs/away3d/4.0Alpha will redirect to the alpha docs

Once again, apologies for the inconvenience

Thanks for your help! I dont need the alpha docs anymore, because I’ve ported my project to 4 beta. Seems like the best thing to do, and it was easier than it seemed. Biggest changes for me were the lack of BitmapFileMaterial and no more Primitives as such. They were easy to change. The new approach to Textures/Bitmaps seems very elegant!
There was a substantial drop in performance between alpha and beta for my debug builds, but it was non-existent in the release builds. Any idea what causes this?
Thanks again for all your hard work!

I just returned to my project after being away from it for a year.  May I ask what functions translated to what?  I am currently using BitmapFileMaterial in a LOT of my code but am unsure as to what I need to change these to.  I tried changing BitmapFileMaterial to TextureMaterial but it doesn’t seem to like strings to be passed.

Is there a migration guide from broomstick to gold?
