Hey,
I am currently evaluating different Flash 3D engines and trying to test the broomstick examples from the download page.
I work with the latest version of FlashDevelop, trying to compile the AnimatedBitmapMaterialTest example.
It does indeed compile, but when the app is actually started, it displays the following error:
[Fault] exception, information=VerifyError: Error #1014: class flash.display3D.textures::Texture not found.
Flash Player 11.0 is selected as the platform.
I have no idea what could be the cause of this, when I tested another example of another engine (alternativa3D), this error did not appear, although it also uses 3D, obviously
What can I do to get rid of it?

I now tried with the current trunk, and get the same error. Also made sure that -swf-version is 13.
Please help! I cannot view any of the examples :(

Broomstick requires an early incubator player.
You need to download the lastest sdk’s from Adobe labs and run latest git.

I am using the latest standalone debugger from here to load the swf:
http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer11-2.html
And also the latest FlashDeveloper version, which should include the latest Flex SDK, correct?
Still, same error.
And also the latest away3D… but from SVN.
Should I take the latest one from git, instead?
Edit:
I now downloaded the latest versions from git, both broomstick examples and core. You should really get rid of the SVN if it is not the same as git!
Anyway, the error remains. I really don’t know what could be more up to date than what I currently have.

Hey, I finally got it to spit out another error! :D
Now the error is that a viewPort property of the stage3D cannot be accessed.
Which makes sense, since it does not exist in stage3D in the newest Flash Player version anymore.
So… is there no Away3D version out there that reacts to this change in the API?
The current Broomstick version from git does not work.

hmmm the only examples that work right now with the most current version of flash and away3d are these. https://github.com/away3d/away3d-examples-fp11
Away4 is in beta right now so I think they are focusing on completing it before more examples are released. Non of the broomstick example will work with current away4 because flash 11 is different then flash broomstick. You can get more example if you install physics part of away3d and download the examples for that.

I use fd and the 11.2 player and dont have any issues compiling that example.
Did you also replce the swc in fd with the latest 10.2 swc?

As I said before, I think that the most current Broomstick examples and Broomstick engines files will likely not work as the most recent Flash Player version does not have a viewPort property.
What is needed is an Away3D version not using the viewPort property.
Look here:
http://forums.adobe.com/thread/876925
But I really want to test the Broomstick version, as the fp11 version does not use the GPU - or does it?
If it does, where is the difference to Broomstick?

yes flash 11 does use gpu ——————————————-
Away3d 4 uses different method calls more optimized for flash 11

Ahhh, okay.
So… the fp11 version already has GPU support, but the broomstick one will be even better in that.
And does the fp11 version count as Away3D 3.x ? Or are both 4.x?
I’m not fully awake yet, but it seems to me you have a slightly confusing naming problem :D
Anyway… consider the issue solved, I’m now using the fp11 versions with the physics examples. Will be enough to evaluate
I’m eager to see the broomstick version up and running

Away3d broomstick is like version 3.99999999 of away3d.
Where as the current away3d 4 beta is at like version 4.4
(these are just made up numbers)
Broomstick was just a demo for the beta of flash11.
Away3d 4 is the main dish built for flash11.
I don’t know how to be anymore descriptive.

Ahhh, okay.
I was under the impression that Broomstick was the newest.
All is clear now, thanks
