It took me about 3 days to figure out how to load in .dae models in away3d fp10. I’m using sketchup pro, and the only way to make it work was to check if there was any uv, if there wasn’t, don’t run the face. I also have to use colours by layers.

Anyway, I’m not sure if this is the best way to go around this, but it seems like the only way at the moment. The .dae models that sketch up exports out to seem a little stuffed up. My problem is, how come the model doesn’t export lines with it?

Example: My Model in sketch up:

My model when loaded in flash:
http://prntscr.com/48hlt

So, is it just sketch up’s fault or am I doing something wrong? Thanks smile

If you do not have animations, why use dae in first place?
Do you know that you could drop these ugly fat xml’s into Prefab and get back a nice AS3 back or an awd for instance? You would gain on overall size, ram usuage and initspeed… and all this for free!

oh and Prefab would have warned you that you were not having UV’s…

Thanks for the response.

I just deleted my huge wall of text that I had written because I found out about the .obj extension. I used blender 2.6, exported a obj and loaded it with this guys help (http://www.charglerode.com/blog/?p=164) and everything’s working perfectly now. Thanks for all the help. I’m very excited that it’s working now! :D

Edit: It’s not working perfectly. ;_; Why is it whenever I compile my project, the object has a random colour material on it?

I managed to make a loop that loops all the faces and adds a material to them, but how come when I add for example, 2 cubes in my model, the faces length is 0?
