Hi, could anyone tell me whether or not Away3D supports AGAL2? and if so how to enable it? I’m getting a runtime error ‘AGAL validation failed: Opcode ifg requires AGAL version to be at least 2, at token 2 of fragment program.

There’s not much documentation on AGAL2 so I’m not sure whether this is a compiler argument I’m missing or whether it would be the fact I’m using Away rather than raw Stage3D.

Does anyone know?

Thanks

Could anyone tell me whether or not this is on the roadmap for Away3D?
I think Away3D’s great and there’s obviously so much work has gone into it, but it feels like the AS3 version has now been abandoned? I don’t mind if this is the case (though it would be a shame) but it would be good to have an official answer of whether there are plans to continue evolving the AS3 version with new Flash/AIR API features such as AGAL 2 and VideoTextures or whether the team are planning to focus purely on the WebGL version?

Thanks
Sean

I believe Flare3D supports AGAL2, so that might be one alternative. However, that’s not free, and costs around $500 a year.

I know exactly what you mean.  I’ve been using Away3D for some time now and think it’s great; however, I’ve been giving some serious thought to migrating to another graphics library. Away3D just doesn’t seem to be moving forwards any more, with little sign that it ever will. Occasionally, one of the devs will pop up and mention something about the next release coming soon, but then nothing seems to happen.

Yes I have thought about Flare3D. I would honestly prefer to stick with Away if possible though - not just for the financial savings but I have put in lots of time and effort learning how to use it, and the team behind it have put in years of hard work building it. It seems a shame to throw that away now and start with a new engine. Also - there are some features that Rob Bateman mentioned they’re working on for the TypeScript version (notably vector drawing on the GPU) which I’m interested in, so again it would be good to know whether there are plans to port these to the AS3 version?.

Ultimately I suppose I’m not paying for this great engine so I have no room to demand answers, I’m trying to tread carefully here so as not to piss off anyone who may be working hard on bringing this to us but I think it’s fair to at least get a response to the question. Even if it’s ‘we’re not sure yet’

Maybe a bit late, but we needed this support for our own needs, so here it is :
