Problem with old version of example into new version :(

Hello guys,

I would like to create 2D Grid like Valve Hammer Editor’s 2D Grid canvas.. I can not fix because any example are outdate - why does away3D lie same worng classes :(

PLEASE DO NOT LIE US! PLEASE STAY HERE OLD BEKNOWN CLASS!

What is source from current version of Away3D?

How do i fix for newest version of flash player 14 / 15.

I would like create simple map editor like any map editor ( radiant or hammer for Quake Engine and Half-Life Engine.

What is bsp tree from Away3D?
Where is lump for bsp if it supports for current lump like example quake’s bsplump from website: https://code.google.com/p/paperquake2/source/browse/trunk/as3/src/com/suite75/quake2/io/BspLump.as?r=2 - But it loads only Papervision3D

How does air app write or read map formatz like creating block / cube?

( x1 y1 z1 ) ( x2 y2 z2 ) ( x3 y3 z3 ) TEXTURE_NAME [ tx1 ty1 tz1 toffs1 ] [ tx2 ty2 tz2 toffs2 ] rotation scaleX scaleY

I have readden same post from Away3D’s forums here.. but they are old…....

Hello dear,

How do i set up with one graphic with 3 or 4 different lines like:
Gridline = normal like 8 units
GridlineDistance = 64 units if you need help of lines…
GridlineDistance1024 = 1024 units like you have create same objects
GridlineCross = width and height line for in the middlepoint of coordination.

Thanks i hope becauise you understand yet.

But i need to add into my custom map editor…..

Hi,

I am not sure if I understood everything you wrote, but I will try to help you.

1. Just because some examples are outdated and doesn’t work anymore, it doesn’t mean they “lied”. It was true back then, and things changes with time.

2. Usually, you can get working sample code from “Away Examples” packs in the GIT repository.

3. Your “OrthoGrid.as” code looks like made for Away3D 3.x version. We are in 4.1.x and things changed a lot from 3 to 4. Its up to you decide which one you will keep.

4. The grid in your example looks like is rendered in Flash graphic layer,  therefore not related to Stage3D and Away3d. Just make changes it in FLASH code.

5. The current (stable) version of away is 4.1.6, but you can always get the dev/unstable sources, or older versions from their GIT repository.

6. The latest away works fine from flash player version 11 and above, so it will be fine running with Air 14 or 15.

7. Afaik, there is no (official) support for Quake BSP format in current Away3D.

8. Away3D is not Papervision. Their core and rendering workflow are completely different. Things made for PPV obviously doesn’t work in Away3D.

9. If you making a scene editor, a good reference would be the AwayBuilder sources, but I couldn’t compile it myself, so I can’t recommend it. You can try your luck with it anyway.

1: yes you are right because core always is chnaged…

2. Yeah i have tried and i have learnd different examples…

3. I would like to know about grid without PrespOrtho mode like any programs Valve Hammer Editor, 3D Max, 3D GameStudio and any…. i need 3 look-grids like “top”, “font” and “side"of grids…

8 units is distance of unendless gridlines…
64 units is distance of unendless helpped gridlines
1024 units is distance of 1024 units’s help gridlines
cross lines are middle point like crosslines or middlepoint of coodirator
outside lines like we don’t allow move or drag to outside of coodirator like -/+16384 units - and + are space of coodirator

4: Buut how do i set with 8 units, 64 units, 1024 units, crosslines and outside lines - i need 5 instances of graphics How di i get?

7: Are you kidding for me? That is support with bsp format like Away’s Package Graphics.BSP.* But Papervision wins again   Away because Papervision reads better than Away for bsp content of Quake. But i see like i have watched video from Youtube.. That is real like Quake is an initial bsp loader for Away3D. Can you check Google Search :D I don’t say you because you don’t believe me :( It supports with Away3D yet.. And how do i undertsand and Can Away3D load Source’s bsp Format by Valve Software ( Half-Life 2’s Bsp )

How does custom class read vmt ( Valve Material Text like json file ) and vtf ( Valve Texture Format like Away 3D Texture Format )?

But vtf files are very smaller than atf files :( like 1024 x 1024 pixel one texture is 100 kb from vtf and for atf has 230 kb.. it is bit too big.

Is it possible for Away3D? It need special encoder and decoder and json-praser for bump, heightmap and more features from Source Engine ( Half-Life 2 )?

BspLumps are very important for collision, water and leafes…....

8. I understand i mean Papervision 3D is good and old. It can load Half-Life 1 and Quake Bsp files. smile It missed it..

9: You mean - i am creating 3D Map Editor or Model Editor? Yes it is correct. But i hate 3D Editor like look sees Google Sketchup or Cryse Engine Editor :( I would like 4 views because 4 views understand me better than one biggest views….....
