Good job on that. thank you. It helped me understand a bit more, but I would love to see an example from someone for creating more usable particle effects, like fire, explosions, fluids, etc.

I’m also still not clear on how to use the various animation nodes like ParticleVelocityNode and ParticlePositionNode.

Also, for your example, what would you change to make the particles explode at a high velocity then slowly decelerate? What about gravity, how would you go about having the particles fall over time?

The example you built from http://away3d.com/tutorials/Introduction_to_Particles is really just the very beginning. I’d love to find an example that takes it one step further much like http://www.effecthub.com/item/featured/ThisMonth. I tried downloding some of these examples but they don’t seem to work with Away3D 4.1

I am a particle system user just like you *^_^*
I also want to achieve more useful and more natural particle’s effects with it.
But some of those ideas maybe could,some maybe couldn’t be achieved?or just need a expansion from the basis by the user?
So,the particle system,in my eyes,it’s powerful,but if a user want more,maybe the user need to study depth enough and try and try.
Let’s wish away3d and the particle system will be powerful more and more by the Team’s effort and the User’s expansion and accumulated.

This sample is a idea shared,if you like it,that would be my pleasure*^_^*

And the particle system have been included inside of awa3d 4.x,can be used directly.

Thank you. I don’t think it’s a question of Away3d’s power or ability, I think it’s strictly that there isn’t a lot of documentation to help people get started. And the documentation that is out there, is for older versions and won’t work with 4.x.

This site which appears to be from China, has some really incredible particle systems: http://www.effecthub.com/item/featured/MostAppreciated, which appear to be Away3D files. I tried downloading a few which appear to be in old PreFab files. As of yet, I haven’t been able to get any of them to work, and I suspect that they are not Away3d 4.x compatible.

You need the parser files to be able to use awp files in your Away project.

Thank you. That did the trick. It also helped me realize where the away3d.entities.ParticleGroup is supposed to come from. It confused me because the package looked like it was part of the away3d swc but I couldn’t find it, so I thought maybe I was using the wrong version. But now I see there are extra packages and classes in the parser project.

Hi friends, I’m trying to test this example using a PNG image, but it looks broken. If I try with a jpg all works fine. Any idea? Thanks!

At first, you should confirm the png as bitmapdata.
Because, on uploading to GPU the jpg/png,
it’s just a bitmapdata.
Can you show the png as Bitmap?
Or attach it to a PlaneGeometry as texture for confirming.

If you can’t show as bitmapdata,
I think that you should make it again from the source.

I have the same issue I cannot find ParticleGroup and ParticleGroupParser as Away3d classes, I looked at the documentation at:

http://away3d.com/livedocs/away3d/4.1/

But those classes do not exist. Could you explain what you had to do to get those classes?
