First off, let me start off by saying I am new to this and a complete idiot when it comes to things like this, but this issue is really odd and I’ve never had it happen when trying to download something.
I also apologize if this is in the wrong forum.

I’m into art and tabletop roleplaying games (Savage Worlds, D&D, Warhammer, etc) and while I greatly enjoy those settings, I also like to sit and make up my own worlds and races and the like.

So, I thought creating a mouse interactive 3D globe of one of my fantasy world maps would be neat. As I previously stated, I’ve never done anything like this before so I had to find a tutorial, and I found this one. http://www.flashmagazine.com/Tutorials/detail/create_the_earth_and_heavens_in_less_than_an_hour_with_away3d/

I already have Flash (though I admit the only reason I downloaded it was to do the tutorial), so all I needed was Away 3D. That’s where the issues began.
The tutorial uses version 2.5.0 so i tried downloading it. Downloads fine. When I try to extract it to…well anywhere, it doesn’t want to do it properly it seems because the files I need just aren’t there.

This is a screenshot of what always pops up when I extract it http://i1006.photobucket.com/albums/af188/Flaemaru/Untitled_zpsaa17f5d7.jpg. It tells me said things and no matter how many times I click ‘try again’, it continues to say it. So as no choice is given, I have to click ‘skip’ which then leads me to this (http://i1006.photobucket.com/albums/af188/Flaemaru/Untitled1_zps2e1b1d08.jpg) in the extracted folder.

Now, first time I was like, “okay, well, that’s weird. maybe it will still work.” It doesn’t. When clicking on either item in the extracted folder I get this: http://i1006.photobucket.com/albums/af188/Flaemaru/Untitled2_zps83fbc521.jpg. The other window is the compressed file that I can’t access the actual folders to for some odd reason.

I figured that perhaps these issues were because I was using a much older version. Download the latest version. Downloads fine. Yet again, however, whenever I try to extract it, it does the same thing in the pictures.

I am at a loss and have no idea why it’s doing this or how to fix it, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

hi

this doesnt looks like a issue with away3d, but like a issue you have with windows/zipped files.

try using winRar for extracting. see if that works.
if you run into similar problems with winRar, i am afraid you need to reinstall windows.

hope that helps

You were right. Thanks. Extracted just fine after downloading WinRAR. Still can’t get it to work, but now I’m thinking I’m either just a complete moron, or it’s something with Flash.
