Hi
i think i asked this before, a while ago and never got any answer. i tried the search function but couldnt find my old thread.

since i still got no clue, i ask it again:

what is the vertexTangentData used for ?

i know how important the vertexNormalData is, but when setting up my meshes, i always use “_autoDeriveVertexTangents=true” and everything seams fine.
since everything seams to work fine its not really an issue for my code, but i would really like to know what the vertexTangentData is used for, and in which cases it would make sense to set it manuall.

thanks for any input

Tangent data is used by various shading effects, and can reliably be auto-generated from the normals of the geometry. So you very rarely, if ever, need to supply them manually.

thanks

finally i know that i do not have to care about them, as long as my normals are correct.

cheers
