Real soft shadows, or DropShadow like filter?

Is there a way to get real soft shadows like a DropShadow like thing with a blur? Does not really have to be a real shadow, a behavior like the DropShadow class for DisplayObjects would be helpful as well (of course real shadows would be more awesome) smile

Maybe a way of blurring the OutlineMethod class?

I read through a lot of posts and it seems that there is nothing like this for Away3D 4 at the moment?

SoftShadowMapMethod even with lens.far adjustments seems pixelated and not really soft, or maybe I’m using the wrong parameters..

the best way i found to soften shadows (that was about 5 months ago) was to decrease the viewing distance. the larger the viewing distance is, the larger the area is where shadows have to be calculated, and since the shadow “canvas” has a fixed size, you end up with quite bad quality shadows.
